“Instructions for living: Pay attention. Be astonished. Tell about it.”
- Mary Oliver
Kelly Wallin and Ferryn Martin are "Girls With Guitars"
Texas-based acoustic singer-songwriter duo performing harmony-driven contemporary folk and original music
The GWGs have been writing, performing, and recording together since 1995. Honored for their songwriting (including Kerrville New Folk and Songwriters Association of Washington), their music celebrates life, laughter, humanity, and hope. With two distinctive vocal styles, the duo trades off on leads, harmonies, and countermelodies, weaving together an intriguing tapestry of sound. They believe in the power of music to forge connection and meaning when words alone fall short. In addition to their original music, their live shows often include their own unique arrangements of songs written by their influences, including Indigo Girls, Nanci Griffith, and Mary Chapin Carpenter.
“This singer-songwriter acoustic duo from Houston has a knack for lush, spirited vocals that resemble the Indigo Girls in the way their distinctive timbres harmonize. And it's not only the union of their voices, but the graceful way their vocals ride their guitar rhythms, that make their music so inviting.”

“I first heard the GWGs at the Ballad Tree at Kerrville Folk Festival. Even among this steady stream of talented singer-songwriters from all around the country, GWG stood out. As soon as their song began, I was struck by the beauty of their vocal harmonies and the perfect blending of their guitars. I knew I wanted to book them. By the end of their first show at my concert series, GWG had completely won the hearts of the audience who were on their feet demanding an encore.”
