House Concerts
Would you consider hosting us for a house concert?
We love house concerts, whether we are performing or attending! These kinds of small gatherings give all of us music-loving humans an opportunity to meet and connect with each other in a much more intimate way than the larger more traditional settings like clubs, public venues, and festivals. And it’s a cool yet simple way for you to include your friends in the live music experience many of us love.
What is a house concert?
House concerts are concerts in private homes or backyards with a more intimate audience, usually 15-50 guests, presented by a host who does not profit from the event – it’s like a music party! Artists provide up to an hour and a half of music, either as one set or two with a break in the middle. Depending on the space, the performance may be completely acoustic (no amplification) or a very small sound system. Attendees are asked for a suggested donation of $10-25 per attendee which goes to the artist. Audiences are generally invited by the host – friends, neighbors, co-workers - but can be semi-public as well, if the host is open to others attending … for example, fans of the artist in the area, others interested in “supporting the cause” if it is part of a fund-raiser, etc. Often, hosts provide light snacks, beverages, or a pot-luck dinner before the show. Attendees may be asked to bring their own chairs.
